Integrative Bodywork & Specialized Modalities
I often tell my clients that a master artist doesn’t just use one brush or a single color; they draw from an entire toolbox of perspective, theory, and technique to create a masterpiece. As a Board Certified Integrative Bodyworker with over 1,500 hours of training, I approach your healing with the same philosophy.
Rather than offering a 'cookie-cutter' massage, I blend the diverse modalities listed below to best accommodate your unique anatomy and goals. Whether we are utilizing deep tissue precision for post-op recovery or neuromuscular therapy for athletic performance, every session is a curated experience designed to help you experience what feels better.
Swedish Massage & Nervous System Reset
When relaxation and stress relief are the primary goals, Swedish massage is the essential foundation. I think of this modality as the 'base coat' of a session; by using rhythmic, specific pressure, I help transition your body into the parasympathetic (rest-and-digest) mode.
While often considered a gentler approach, I use my informed touch to ensure the pressure is firm and intentional. This creates the necessary calm for the nervous system, allowing for a deeper release of tension without the body bracing against the work. It is an invitation to a total reset in my private sanctuary.
Deep Tissue & Structural Integration
Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT) & Trigger Point Relief
Deep tissue massage is not about 'full body deep pressure'—it is an intentional, targeted focus on specific muscle groups. Drawing on my experience working with professional athletes and medical professionals, I use an informed approach that works from superficial layers down to the deep muscle attachments, insertions, and the fascia in between.
I treat the body as a three-dimensional system, focusing on the relationship between agonist and antagonist muscle groups to encourage more balanced and efficient movement. This isn't just a massage; it’s a 'sculpting' of the soft tissue to restore structural integrity and functional relief. Whether you are recovering from surgery or managing the physical demands of high-level training, this work is designed to help you move with ease."
Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT) is one of the most effective tools in my toolbox for reducing—and often eliminating—chronic pain. This highly specialized approach focuses on Trigger Points: tender spots in the muscle that often refer pain to other parts of the body.
Using my board-certified training, I target ischemic tissue to improve circulation and release nerve compression or entrapment. However, I don't just look at the 'spot' that hurts. I take a holistic view of your postural and gait patterns, while considering how lifestyle factors—such as hydration, physiological stress, and breathing—contribute to your discomfort. It is an 'informed touch' designed to recalibrate your body from the nervous system up.
Myofascial Therapy & Structural Integration
Myofascial therapy is an essential, slow-motion technique that addresses the body’s 'web'—the connective tissue (fascia) that surrounds every muscle and organ. Using gentle but sustained pressure, I sink into the fascial layers with long, slow timing to melt away restrictions that have built up over years.
This work is specifically directed at eliminating long-term pain patterns and structural inefficiencies that deep pressure alone cannot reach. By restoring the fluidity of your fascia, we improve blood flow and range of motion throughout the entire body. It is a patient, 'informed touch' that allows your body to reorganize itself into a more balanced and effortless alignment.
Seated Chair Massage & Corporate Wellness
Chair massage is a versatile, high-impact modality that brings the 'private sanctuary' experience into any environment. Performed fully clothed, this focused treatment targets the high-tension areas of the upper body—including the neck, shoulders, back, and arms.
Because it requires minimal space and no transition time, it is the ideal solution for corporate wellness events or busy individuals needing a 'reset' between meetings. Even in a seated position, I apply my informed touch to address postural fatigue and repetitive strain, making it a highly effective tool for those who spend their days behind a desk or in the classroom."
Hot Stone Therapy & Therapeutic Heat
Heated local basalt river rocks are much more than a relaxation tool; they are an extension of my hands. By applying weighted, deep heat to specific muscle groups, I can penetrate the tissue more effectively, allowing the muscles to release without the need for aggressive pressure.
In these sessions, I blend traditional Swedish strokes with the strategic use of heated stones to 'melt' tension. This deep thermotherapy prepares the body for more focused Deep Tissue or Neuromuscular Therapy, making it an ideal choice for those with chronic stiffness or those who simply need a profound nervous system reset in a cozy, intentional environment."
Sports Massage & Athletic Performance
Sports massage is a specialized discipline designed to fine-tune the body’s 'biomechanical engine.' Drawing on my experience working with professional athletes, I combine targeted massage techniques with assisted stretching to increase your performance capabilities and decrease the potential for injury.
Whether we are preparing for a specific event or focusing on post-training recovery, my goal is to improve your biomechanical efficiency. By addressing scar tissue, reducing muscle tension, and increasing range of motion, we aren't just 'fixing' a sore muscle—we are accelerating your recovery and optimizing how your body moves. From competitive athletes at CSU to weekend warriors on the Fort Collins trails, this is an informed approach to keeping you in the game.
Zoku Shin Do Traditional Japanese Foot Massage
Often translated as 'The Path Which Leads to the Heart,' Zoku Shin Do is the oldest recorded practice of foot massage and reflexology. In this tradition, the feet are viewed as a complete micro-system of the body, where reflex points connect to every organ and system.
As an integrative bodyworker, I use this modality to stimulate the body’s 'Qi' (energy) and improve circulation while balancing the Yin and Yang meridians. By addressing these transition areas, we can impact your overall health from the ground up. Whether used as a standalone treatment or integrated into a full-body session, Zoku Shin Do offers a profound sense of balance and a deep, meditative reset for the entire nervous system."
Pro-Tip: You don’t have to choose.
Most of my clients simply book the time they need—60, 75, or 90 minutes—and let me handle the 'toolbox.' During our intake, we will discuss your specific goals and I will integrate the perfect blend of these techniques to ensure your session is exactly what your body requires.
“Chris doesn’t just give a massage; he listens to what your body needs. I’ve never had a more effective session.”
